All of the bit sequences generated by players have been saved in files
virtually from the project's start. Currently, data miners at
Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science
are trying to derive meaningful patterns from this dataset.
The ultimate goal would be to gain insight into the way people try to be random, and their conception of random sequences in general, which is an issue studied in psychology. This is not easy however, since the data collected by OutRandom is not linked to the person who is playing. Therefore, extending the project with a way to register individual players starting and leaving will allow for serious research to be done.
